What are the types of fit testing? There are two types of fit testing: qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative fit testing relies on the individual's sense of taste, smell, or irritation to determine a proper fit, while quantitative fit testing uses equipment to measure the amount of leakage around the respirator's seal. How often do I need to be fit tested? The frequency of fit testing depends on the type of respirator and the individual's job duties. It is typically recommended that fit testing be done at least annually, but some organizations may require more frequent testing. Can I fit test myself? No, fit testing should be done by a trained professional. How long does fit testing take? The duration of fit testing varies, but it typically takes around 15-20 minutes. What should I do if my respirator fails the fit test? If a respirator fails the fit test, it should be adjusted or replaced to ensure a proper fit. It's important to always wear a properly fitting respirator to ensure adequate protection. *ONLY AVALIBLE FOR VU STUDENTS
